• Sewing machine parts and functions
• Professional sewing techniques: seam finishing, hand stitches, darts, necklines, zippers, pleats, tucks, waistband construction, facings and many more.
• Accurate body measurements. Avoid fitting issues with the right measurements.
• Gathered skirt, cutting and sewing with neat finishing
• Full and half circle skirt, cutting and sewing with neat finishing
• Pencil skirt, cutting and sewing with neat finishing
• Draft StitchXperts basic bodice blocks
• Basic dress drafting, cutting, sewing and fitting.

HOW THE COURSE WORKS

• After you register, you will be added to a WhatsApp group. This group is for asking questions and sending your assignments. Class days are Mondays and Thursdays.
• All lessons are pre-recorded videos. New videos are posted every week to a Telegram group. You will get access to the Telegram group when the course starts.
• Please complete your assignments in order. Each lesson is designed to build on the skills learned on the previous lesson.
• On class days, send clear pictures or videos of your work. We will check your work and give you feedback and corrections if needed.
• When you finish all the course work successfully, you’ll receive a digital certificate for completion and you can move to Level 2 of the Dressmaking Program.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

No prior experience in sewing needed. We will teach you everything you need to know.

MATERIALS

• Calico / graybaft fabric (non-stretch cotton fabric) 12yards
• Interfacing (medium weight) 2 yards
• Straight ruler
• Curve ruler (French curve)
• Tape measure (inches)
• Sewing thread (cream color)
• Chalk
• Pins
• Fabric and paper scissors
• Pattern paper or brown paper for pattern drafting (10 sheets)
• Masking tape
• Tracing wheel (or tracing paper)
• Zipper foots (narrow zipper foot and invisible zipper foot)
• Zippers (lenght and colour will be specified in class)
• 1/2inch (or 20mm) wide bias tape (cream color) 2 yards
• Sewing machine
• Hand sewing needle
• 6-10 yards/meters of 100% cotton fabric for skirt assignments (e.g. Ankara fabric)
